Nicky Hays is a true driver. Born and raised in California, Hays wrapped his fingers around a steering wheel the moment he could reach the pedals of a kid kart. Through the course of his journey, he established himself as one of the top go-kart racers in North America. The transition between karting and single-seater racing in 2018 was seamless as the young American was selected to participate in two world renown young driver selection programs, where he reached the final in both. Experience at a high level of since a young age has allowed Hays to gain knowledge allowing him to achieve success at every level his career.
Career Achievements
2022: Road to Indy USF2000
Nicky contested the 2022 USF2000 Championship driving for Cape Motorsports. He finished the season with two - 2nd place finishes at the season finale in Portland.
2021: HPD GT3 Academy
Nicky was fortunate to be selected to be a member of the HPD NSX Gt3 academy with Racers Edge Motorsports. In this program Nicky was able to sample Gt3 material for ths first time in his career. Further enhancing his experience level with different forms of cars. From the first run in Mid-Ohio Nicky was right at home. Throughout the 4 tests Nicky was able to learn and practice all the keys to being successful in Sportscar racing.., i.e. managing tires, in and out laps, driver changes, fuel mileage, and driving at night.
2020 : FR Americas
Nicky competed in the FR Americas Championship powered by Honda under the Global Racing Group Banner. Due to Covid-19, the season was delayed and several drivers moved down from the Indy Lights Championship which led Nicky to compete against experienced professional drivers. Always in the top 5 and scoring multiple podiums, Nicky performed very well for his level of experience. In the end, Hays was the top rookie to move up from the F4 Category, out-scoring the highly rated 2019 F4 US Champion. All this yielded a 4th place overall finish in the championship, a strong showing for the biggest step in Nicky’s career to date.
2019 : French F4
After a very strong showing at the 2018 Richard Mille Academy, Hays was invited to the prestigious Volant Winfield where he was a finalist. This landed him a seat in the FFSA FIA French F4 Championship which kickstarted his career in racing cars. Without the opportunity for preseason testing, Nicky began the first round without ever setting foot in his car. Despite this, Hays landed on the podium in his first weekend and ended the season with a 3rd place standing; the best result for an American since 1999.
